About me
A Japanese proverb says "seeing something once is better than hearing about it a hundred times". See short video:
Design
For almost my entire professional life, alongside my roles in management, development and sales, I have also been involved in design (including typography – logos for product models, etc.).
Each year I created hundreds of designs for components, jerseys, bicycles, packaging, catalogues, advertising materials, and more. Often with notable success. World Champion Lada Kozlíková, competing on PELLS carbon specials, captured attention not only at the World Championships and the Olympics but also in countries traditionally devoted to cycling design, through events such as the Giro d'Italia. Her international achievements were later followed in other disciplines by two-time world champion Romana Labounková. PELLS bicycles won the "Best Czech Product" award at every edition of the Bike Brno international trade fair, and for a period, we were also the top-selling cycling jersey brand in the Czech Republic, alongside many other successes.
These works were very often produced under great time pressure and with an inner ambivalence — a feeling that I was, in a way, playing, slightly at the expense of my primary job responsibilities. At the same time, there was constant stress stemming from the awareness that the result simply had to appeal to the majority of our customers.
Paintings
In contrast, my free artistic work has always been purely a source of joy and an inner necessity. It unfolds with the wonderful feeling that I can paint things that do not need to appeal to anyone at all. If a positive response does occur, it is merely an added bonus. There is great freedom in that.
